Kynance Cove on the Lizard Peninsula, close to Britain's most southerly point, is one of the loveliest spots in the whole of Cornwall with its jagged serpentine rocks and pretty beach. We were camping in the area when the evening conditions suggested the possibility of the sun creeping under the flat clouds at sunset. We walked down to the cove and I set up the tripod and waited, watching the surfers in the water below. The sun appeared for only a couple of minutes, allowing me to get this shot of its last rays whilst it lit a long section of the horizon.
